Okayuj.co.uk: What Is It, Who Owns It Now, Domain History, SEO Value and Everything You Need to Know

I saw many people searching for okayuj.co.uk, when i check the website i find out domain was an old uk domain but is now being used as a multi-niche content website covering topics such as business, technology, finance, health, travel, education and lifestyle.

I did a futher research and there is an interesting story behind domains like that many people dont know. You know, most SEO companies like to reregistered and expired domain that is still getting alot of traffic. When they do so, they try to claim the previous content, that is exactly what they use okayuj.co.uk for.

Now they are using the domain okayuj.co.uk for guest posting and getting paid for it. As an seo expert i getting a guest post for backlinks fom this type of website may affect your domain. So is advisable to gain your guest post and backlink from a relevant site that matches the content on your website.

That is why smartseo is the king when it comes to guest posting and link building. Feel free to contact us for your guest posting and link building services.

What Is Okayuj.co.uk?

I became interested in this domain because it is a good example of seo practics that works but not ethical. Okayuj.co.uk is currently a multi-niche publishing website according what the current owner is using it for. For many years the domain was used as a uk local news website that covers many events hapening whithin UK and Northern Island.

The last time this are what the website are currently publishing:

  • Business
  • Finance
  • Technology
  • Health
  • Travel
  • Education
  • Real estate
  • Sports
  • Fashion
  • Cryptocurrency
  • Home improvement
  • Environment
  • Politics
  • Food and nutrition

The current homepage describes Okayuj as a multi-niche blog providing information about business, finance, world news, economy, technology, health and travel.

So if you are visiting the domain today, you are not looking for the local UK news report platfiorm, your going to get multi publications covering different niches as i stated above.

Is Okayuj.co.uk an Old Domain?

This is where I want to be careful. If you are researching an old or previously registered domain, there is an important difference between domain age and website age.

These two things are not the same. A domain may have been registered years ago. The registration can later expire and someone else can acquire the domain.

The new owner can install WordPress and the entire website can be redesigned. The content can change. The niche can change. Now you have a completely different website operating on an old domain name.

That means saying:

“This is an old website.” is be incorrect.

A better description is:

“This is a domain with historical registration that is currently being used by a different website project.”

That distinction matters tremendously in SEO. Many seo agencies take advantage of this to acquire a domain that inherited an existing traffic. The problem is that those traffic are visiting with different search intent than what is currently on the website. This will significantly affect the website as time goes on.

Why Domain History Matter!

This is one of the most important things I want people to understand. If you are buying an old domain because you believe it will automatically rank, you may be making an expensive mistake.

Google does not simply look at:

“This domain is 10 years old.”

and say:

“Let’s rank it number one.”

Search is much more complicated. Google explains that its systems use many signals to determine relevance and quality.

So an old domain should be investigated from several angles.

I would look at:

  1. Previous website content
  2. Previous owners
  3. Historical backlinks
  4. Referring domains
  5. Anchor text
  6. Previous niches
  7. Spam history
  8. Google indexation
  9. Current content quality
  10. Current backlink profile
  11. Topical relevance
  12. Search visibility

This is where SEO becomes much more than simply checking an Ahrefs or Semrush score.

That is why SmartSEO is a better choice for businesses that want someone to look beyond surface-level SEO metrics and actually build organic visibility, traffic, leads and revenue.

What Is the Keyword “okayuj.co.uk”?

The keyword okayuj.co.uk is different from a normal commercial keyword such as:

“SEO company in Lagos”

Someone searching for “SEO company in Lagos” has a commercial intention.

They are probably looking for an SEO company. But someone searching:

okayuj.co.uk

is using what we can describe as a navigational or brand/domain query. They may already know the domain.

They may have seen it somewhere or maybe research about it and actually want to visit the website. Or they may want to understand what the domain is.

This is why I would not create an article that simply repeats “okayuj.co.uk” 50 times. That would be poor SEO. Instead, I would answer the questions surrounding the keyword.

What Is Okayuj?

Okayuj is currently a multi-niche online publishing website operating on the okayuj.co.uk domain.

The current site publishes articles across multiple industries and topics.

The website’s own description says it provides content across areas including business, finance, world news, economy, technology, health and travel.

The site also has category pages covering areas such as parenting and child health.

However, if you are researching Okayuj from an SEO perspective, the more important question is not simply what the website publishes today. It is What is the history behind the domain?

Okayuj.co.uk Domain History

When researching an old domain, I always recommend looking beyond the current homepage.

The homepage only tells you what is happening now. It does not necessarily tell you what happened five or ten years ago.

For a serious domain-history investigation, I would use resources such as:

  • WHOIS records
  • Historical WHOIS databases
  • Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine
  • Google Search
  • Semrush
  • Ahrefs
  • Majestic
  • Google Search Console, if you own the website
  • Backlink databases
  • Historical DNS information

The goal is to reconstruct the domain’s history.

You want to know:

Who used the domain before?

Articles they publish?

What websites linked to them?

Which niche were they in?

Did the website disappear before the current site appeared?

Was the domain ever used for spam?

These questions can tell you much more than domain age.

Is Okayuj.co.uk a Valuable SEO Domain?

This is where I would tell you not to get carried away.

An old domain can be valuable.

But old does not automatically mean authoritative.

Imagine two domains.

Domain A

  • 15 years old
  • 300 backlinks
  • Most backlinks are from spam websites
  • Previous website was hacked
  • Thousands of irrelevant pages were indexed
  • Anchor text is suspicious
  • Domain changed niches multiple times

Domain B

  • 4 years old
  • 80 backlinks
  • Links from relevant publications
  • Clean history
  • Strong topical relevance
  • Genuine traffic
  • Useful content
  • Natural anchor text

I would potentially choose Domain B.

Why?

Because quality and relevance matter more than simply looking at age.

Okayuj.co.uk SEO Value: What Should You Check?

If I were auditing okayuj.co.uk for a client, I would investigate the following things.

1. Backlinks

First, I would check the backlink profile.

A backlink is simply a link from another website to your website.

But not all backlinks are equal.

A link from a respected, relevant website can be much more useful than hundreds of random links from low-quality websites.

I would investigate:

  • Number of referring domains
  • Domain quality
  • Link relevance
  • Anchor text
  • Follow vs nofollow
  • New links
  • Lost links
  • Sitewide links
  • Toxic-looking patterns
  • Historical link growth

Google itself recommends making links crawlable and explains that links can help Google discover pages and understand relationships between content.

2. Historical Backlinks

This is even more important for an old domain.

Why? Because a domain might have had excellent backlinks in the past but lost most of them after the original website disappeared.

For example:

A newspaper may have linked to the old website.

The old website disappears.

The newspaper’s page remains online.

But the link may now point to a dead URL.

The new owner then acquires the domain. That does not automatically mean every historical backlink is now valuable. You have to investigate what the links actually point to and whether the historical context is relevant.

3. Anchor Text

I would also check anchor text. Anchor text is the clickable text used in a backlink.

For example:

SmartSEO

or:

SEO company in Nigeria

or:

A natural backlink profile normally contains a mixture of branded, URL, topical and other anchor text.

But if an old domain has thousands of backlinks with highly commercial keywords, I would investigate further.

4. Previous Website Niche

This is another big one. Suppose the old Okayuj website was previously about technology.

Then the new owner builds a technology website. That could be more logically connected than changing the domain from a technology site into a completely unrelated casino or pharmaceutical website.

The lesson is simple:

Don’t just ask whether a domain is old. Ask what the domain was historically about.

5. Spam History

This is probably one of the things I would investigate most carefully. Some expired domains are acquired specifically because they have backlinks.

That can create opportunities, but it can also create problems. A domain could previously have been used for:

  • Spam
  • Automated articles
  • Link schemes
  • Hacked pages
  • Redirects
  • Gambling content
  • Adult content
  • Pharmaceutical spam
  • Doorway pages
  • Keyword-stuffed pages

Google has specific spam policies because manipulative practices can result in pages or websites being ranked lower or omitted from search.

So I would never tell a client: “This domain is old, buy it.” I would first investigate it.

6. Google Indexation

Another thing I would check is whether Google has indexed the current website.

You can perform a basic check using:

site:okayuj.co.uk

Google itself recommends the site: operator as a basic way to check whether pages from a website appear in Search, while noting that it does not necessarily show every indexed URL.

But indexation alone doesn’t prove that a website is authoritative.

A website can have thousands of indexed pages and still receive very little organic traffic.

7. Organic Keywords

This is where tools such as Semrush become useful.

If you searched okayuj.co.uk inside Semrush, you are probably interested in understanding what keywords the domain is ranking for.

I would investigate:

  • Number of organic keywords
  • Position distribution
  • Top pages
  • Estimated traffic
  • Keyword intent
  • Countries generating visibility
  • Branded searches
  • Non-branded searches
  • Ranking trends

But again, I wouldn’t judge the domain based on one number.

SEO tools estimate data. They are useful. They are not Google Search Console.

8. Topical Relevance

This is an area where I believe many SEO agencies make mistakes.

They see a domain with:

5,000 backlinks

and immediately want to acquire it.

I ask:

5,000 backlinks from where?

If you are building a law firm website and the old domain was about gaming, the backlinks may have very little relevance.

The number looks impressive. The strategy may not be. SEO should be based on context.

Is Okayuj.co.uk Legit?

Based on the current website, okayuj.co.uk is a live publishing website with an active content structure.

The homepage currently identifies the site as a multi-niche blog and provides a contact email for guest-post enquiries.

But there is an important difference between:

“The website is live.”

and:

“Everything published on the website is trustworthy.”

I would never make the second claim simply because the first is true.

If you are reading an article on Okayuj, make sure you evaluate the following:

  • Who wrote it?
  • Is the author identifiable?
  • Are sources provided?
  • Is the information accurate?
  • Is the article original?
  • Does it demonstrate expertise?
  • Is the website transparent?

Google’s own guidance recommends original, helpful, reliable content and encourages creators to make authorship and expertise clear.

Is Okayuj.co.uk a Guest Posting Website?

This is another reason some SEO professionals may be searching for the domain.

The current Okayuj website provides a contact for guest-post enquiries. That means people interested in publishing content or acquiring editorial placements may come across the domain.

But I want to make something clear.

A guest post is not automatically a powerful backlink.

The value depends on the website, page, audience, relevance, editorial quality and how the link is handled.

If a link is paid for, Google recommends qualifying paid links with sponsored or nofollow attributes.

So don’t buy a backlink simply because someone tells you:

“This domain has a high DA.” Ask better questions.

Should You Buy a Backlink From Okayuj.co.uk?

Don’t make the decision based on DA, DR or one SEO metric alone.

I would first check:

Relevance

Is the website relevant to your industry?

Traffic

Does the website receive genuine visitors?

Editorial quality

Are the articles useful and well written?

Link placement

Will your link appear naturally within relevant content?

Indexation

Are the published articles actually indexed?

Outbound link patterns

Does every article contain multiple commercial backlinks?

Historical reputation

What has the website been used for?

These questions are much more useful than:

“What is the domain authority?”

What Does an Old Domain Mean for SEO?

An old domain can give you something valuable:

history.

But history can be good or bad.

Think about it like buying a used car.

The fact that a car is 10 years old doesn’t tell you whether it is good.

You need to know:

  • Who owned it?
  • How was it maintained?
  • Was it involved in an accident?
  • How many kilometres has it done?
  • Was the engine maintained?
  • What problems does it have?

I look at old domains in almost exactly the same way.

Domain age is the odometer. It isn’t the entire vehicle inspection.

Can a Re-Registered Domain Rank on Google?

Absolutely.

A re-registered domain can rank.

But don’t assume that the previous owner’s rankings automatically belong to the new owner.

If the website changes completely, Google still has to understand the new website and its content.

Google explains that crawling, indexing and ranking are separate processes and that inclusion in the index does not guarantee strong search visibility.

This is why I would treat a re-registered domain as a new SEO project with historical data, not as a magic shortcut.

Can an Old Domain Give You Instant Rankings?

No. This is one of the biggest SEO myths.

Someone may tell you:

“Buy this expired domain and you’ll rank instantly.”

I wouldn’t believe that.

SEO doesn’t work that way. Google says crawling and indexing can take time and explicitly notes that submitting a sitemap or requesting indexing does not guarantee ranking or instant inclusion.

An old domain may have useful signals.

But you still need:

  • Good content
  • Technical SEO
  • Search intent
  • Internal links
  • Relevant backlinks
  • Strong website architecture
  • Good user experience
  • Consistency

That is exactly why I don’t believe in selling people “magic SEO.”

Why Internal Linking Matters More Than Many People Think

One thing I have learned from working on different websites is that internal linking is often neglected.

You publish an article.

It gets indexed. Then you leave it sitting there. That’s a mistake.

A strong internal linking structure can help visitors discover related content and can help search engines understand the relationship between pages.

Google also recommends that important pages have links from other pages on the same website.

This is one reason I focus heavily on content clusters at SmartSEO.

For example, if you are interested in SEO for startups, I have already explained the subject in detail in my article about an SEO company for startups.

And if you are interested in modern SEO strategies, I have also written about SEO by HighSoftware99.com.

How SmartSEO Approaches SEO Differently

This is where I want to talk about my own company. I created SmartSEO because I saw too many businesses struggling with the same problem.

They had websites had a great products. Some were even spending money on advertising. But they weren’t getting enough organic visibility.

I wrote about this experience in “I Started This Agency Because I Saw Too Many Businesses Being Ignored Online.”

That experience shaped how I approach SEO today.

I don’t believe SEO should be about producing meaningless articles just because a keyword tool says there is search volume. I believe SEO should answer a much bigger question:

How do we turn search visibility into actual business growth?

Why SmartSEO Is Better Than Many SEO Companies

I won’t tell you that SmartSEO is magically perfect or that every other SEO company is bad.

That would be dishonest. There are good SEO agencies everywhere.

But I can explain what makes SmartSEO different.

1. I Focus on Business Results

Ranking is important. But ranking by itself doesn’t pay your bills.

Imagine ranking number one for a keyword that brings 2,000 visitors who never become customers. That’s not necessarily a successful SEO campaign.

At SmartSEO, I care about:

  • Traffic
  • Leads
  • Enquiries
  • Sales
  • Revenue
  • Return on investment

Our own website says our focus is on increasing leads and revenue rather than simply increasing traffic.

We Combine Content With Technical SEO

Some agencies only write articles. Others only build backlinks. Others focus entirely on technical SEO. I believe these things need to work together.

SmartSEO combines services including:

  • Technical SEO
  • Content creation
  • Keyword research
  • Link building
  • Local SEO
  • On-page SEO

Our services page describes a content process that includes publishing, updating old content, internal linking and on-page optimization.

We Show Real SEO Results

I also believe an SEO company should be able to show what its work actually produces.

One example from my own work is a travel website that generated 300 organic Google clicks in 24 hours, along with approximately 17,300 impressions and an average ranking position of 6.1 during the reported period.

That doesn’t mean every client will suddenly get 300 clicks in one day. SEO doesn’t work like that.

Different websites have different industries, authority, competition and search demand. But it demonstrates something important:

SEO can produce measurable results when the strategy and execution are right.

SmartSEO vs Cheap SEO

There is a big difference between cheap SEO and affordable SEO that actually has a strategy behind it.

A cheap SEO provider might give you:

  • Hundreds of directory links
  • AI-generated articles
  • Generic reports
  • Automated submissions
  • Little communication

The problem isn’t necessarily the price.

The problem is the strategy. I would rather have a smaller number of meaningful actions than thousands of meaningless ones.

I have also written about cheap SEO services in Lagos because I know many small businesses cannot afford massive marketing budgets.

The objective should be to find the right balance between budget, competition and expected business value.

How Much Does SEO Cost?

There isn’t one universal SEO price. A small local business doesn’t need the same strategy as a multinational ecommerce company.

The price depends on:

  • Competition
  • Website size
  • Industry
  • Number of keywords
  • Content requirements
  • Technical problems
  • Link-building requirements
  • Business goals
  • Geographic targets

I have explained this in my detailed guide on how much SEO costs in Nigeria.

The important thing is not simply finding the cheapest SEO company.

The Bigger SEO Lesson Behind Okayuj.co.uk

For me, the Okayuj example is bigger than one domain. It demonstrates something I tell website owners all the time:

SEO isn’t about finding one trick. It’s about putting many correct things together.

A strong website needs:

  • Good keyword research
  • Useful content
  • Technical SEO
  • Search intent
  • Internal linking
  • Strong website architecture
  • Relevant backlinks
  • Good user experience
  • Consistent improvement
  • Measurement

Google itself recommends creating helpful, reliable, people-first content rather than producing content primarily to manipulate search rankings.

That is the philosophy I try to follow at SmartSEO.

My Final Verdict on Okayuj.co.uk

So, what do I think about okayuj.co.uk?

My view is that it is an interesting domain to investigate because it demonstrates the difference between domain history and current website identity.

The current website is an active multi-niche publication covering a broad range of subjects.

But if your interest is SEO, I would not stop there.

I would investigate the historical use of the domain, its backlink profile, referring domains, anchor text, previous content, indexation and current organic visibility.

And I definitely would not say:

“It’s an old domain, therefore it must be powerful.”

That’s not how modern SEO works. A domain’s past can provide clues.

Its backlinks and organic traffic provide more clues. When you put all those pieces together, you can make a much better SEO decision.
